So what have I been up to lately? First off, making sure to spend time with my friend for her 23rd birthday!! We're getting old... :]

lets just say that we had WAYYYY to much fun!!

I did pretty bad during the week with working out. I'll just blame that on the monthly. I kicked it back into gear Friday. I went for a run before it's going to be raining all weekend. It was just a little 1.5 miles. After I did a leg workout outside then came inside for an arm workout. I cannot wait to get stronger!!

Today I woke up knowing that I wanted to do strength training. I wanted to try things that I've seen really strong people do, that I'm afraid of. Deadlifts for one...I went in the gym and tried to avoid it because there were really heavy weights on it already. Did some other things around the gym keeping my heart rate up. Finally made my way to the deadlift bar. I looked and noticed that I think those weights were supposed to be on there already...I'm not sure. So I left them on. They were 45 pounds on each side. I went for it...and I did it. Only 5 reps, but thats 5 more than I've done before. I did some other leg, arm, and ab workouts then headed to the treadmill for an easy 1-mile shake out run. I came home with tons of energy. Drew hates me for it...haha.

There's this video that I've watched almost everyday since I've seen it. It is very motivational to me and really its what I want to see out of myself. I know I can do it if I am determined. I wanted to share with everyone. YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS VIDEO NOW!!!!

Fall Favorites

1. What is your favorite thing about this time of year?
My favorite thing about this time of year is the holidays of course. I love the cool air, being able to wear jeans comfortably, and staying in and getting cozy with Andrew.
2. What do you hope to do again before Summer is officially over?
Before Summer is over, I wished we could have went tubing one more time...but not sure if thats in the cards.
3. When did you last go on a hay ride?
The last time I went on a hayride was a couple of haloweens ago. It was scary, in the woods, and the actors got all in your face....literally.
4. What is your favorite pumpkin dish?
I can't say that I've really tried anything pumpkin except pumpkin seeds. I'm very picky with my dessert, and what I mean by that is if it's not chocolate, I'm not eating it.
5. Do you decorate your home for fall?
I would but my dogs like to tear everything up that I buy. So I am waiting until we move into a place with a backyard to start doing things like that again.
6. Do you have any hobbies that are seasonally specific? If so, what are they?
I don't have any hobbies that are season specific. I think all my hobbies can be done at any time of the year.
7. Apple cider or hot chocolate?
Okay, I know earlier I said anything chocolate...but I actually dislike hot chocolate...and coffee...and I don't think I've ever tried apple cider.
8. Are you a fan of football? If so, who is your team?
I am a fan of football. I love the Texas Longhorns and I still have to give credit to my Dallas Cowboys. I also grew up watching Green Bay alot.
9. Share a fond Fall memory.
My favorite fall memory is all the parties we used to throw in the fall. I loved parties that were in the fall and winter because you know when you get drunk you normally get too hot, but when its fall its okay to be outside and drinking.
10. It’s not Fall until
I buy a fall scent candle, make a soup or chili, and can wear a jacket.

Weekend Recap and PR!!

This weekend seemed to go pretty fast. Probably because last week I had a 5 day weekend and fell in love with it. :] But tomorrow, it's back to work....already.

Thursday I went to the gym. I told ya'll I fell in love with working out again. I love to love working out. I ended up doing a circuit-type workout. But before anything I wanted to see how fast I could run a mile and see if it's improved. And watch out new 1 mile PR is 8:43. I never thought I could get under 9:30 let anone another minute on top of that. I was soooo happy afterwards. I kept working out and stayed on the treadmill a little longer followed by abs, arms, and leg workout.

Friday afterwork, my best friend Angela came over. We hung out at my house for a while then headed to Taco Cabana for some food and margaritas. It was happy hour, so margaritas were only $1.50 each. WHAT WHAT. Afterwards, Drew and I headed to our friends, Gabriel and Vicky's. We had plans to drink a little but just wasnt quite in the mood. Good thing because I wanted to really workout hard the next day.

Saturday I woke up right on time for Crossfit. It was a crazy good workout. I am actually bearly able to move right now. I thought I had done enough working out of my legs these past weeks that there was no way I'd be sore....but I am...Im actually thinking maybe I pulled something in my legs...ughhh...great. I went home and made a green smoothie then hunny and I took both our cars to the car wash. I wanted to stay active and washing and vacuuming your car is a great way to do that. We drove around town showing off drews baby...the sex is female...yes Drew says things about his car like...."isn't she a beauty"...he loves his car so much. We stopped at Specs to get a bottle for later that night then went to HomeSlice. If you live in Austin and have never been here, you NEED to go now. Its a keep-austin-weird pizza place located off Congress. The place was packed but we were able to sit down right away because we choose to sit at the bar. I got a lonestar and drew got a shiner. We ordered the Medium - sausage, pepperoni, and onion pizza and not only was it ridiculously huge, it was damn good too. I was gonna stop at one slice but it just didnt make any sense at the time because the pizza was yummmmmo. So I had two. Afterwards we headed back to Gabriel and Vickys where we made a fire in the bbq pit outside for visual purposes only...No meat was being cooked we just wanted a fire for some reason. So we sat outside and enjoyed our alcohol. Great Night.

Today was a verrry weird Sunday. Drew and I slept in until 1. We NEVER do that. We try...but we always end up waking up by 9. So it was very weird waking up in the middle of the day but very much needed. I took the dogs outside for long walks. I had to take them seperately because...well if you know my dogs, you'd know 1 person, plus walking my 2 dogs, equals impossible. I gave them baths when we got back and then Drew ordered a ginormous amount of food for papa johns... I asked him if we were having a football party or something. He ordered a large 5 topping pizza, chicken wings, 6 cheese cheesesticks and soda. We started off eating the chicken wings and cheese sticks and we were full....didn't even touch the pizza. Guess I dont have to worry about dinner tomorrow.

How was your weekend?

Whats your favorite pizza place?

Do you have more than one dog to walk? And do you have to walk them at different times?

I've been pushing it on the treadmill. I just love to sweat lately. And I cannot wait until it starts cooling down here in Texas. I cannot wait to go outside for long runs...because really I HATE the TREADMILL. It's sooo boring.

Also, next weekend is my first mudrun. The Austin Outlaw Dash! I am soooo excited for it. And this will be the first race that my love Andrew will be attending. No he is not running with me, but yes he is taking me and will be there to support me. I'll post a recap about it when the time comes.

Oh the joy

Looky at what I got to wake up to this morning!!!
Isn't that soooo awesome. $155 to repair...not too bad. But I also have to go get my car inspected today. I'm still trying to figure out why someone would do this...It's probably the old man that I cut off last week. I know he followed me home. haha. No, but seriously I have no idea why my car was singled out.

So I was looking at a couple of pictures and found some oldie but goodies.

My brother and SIL had some wedding pictures taken in front of here. But because I love pictures of myself I stole the spotlight a couple of times....

This was not too long ago but seems like it because it's so weird to see a cigarette in my hand. I am now officially 19 days without a cigarette. Woot woot. Almost a month.

Texas Round Up! I remember being so hungover that day. It was one of my hardest races. I was also still smoking. But it was the day I hit my 5k PR 29:37.

Well I have to get ready to leave work and spend all my money on getting my back windsheild replaced. Lucky me!

Quick Check In

Debating on if I should do a run today or go to the gym today...Or should I just take it easy since I'm so sore from the 100 workout I did the other day. Im thinking about just being lazy. I need to go to Academy and get new workout clothes soon. It's a necessity.

100 workout and day 4 of no smoking

Hey Hey Hey! Ive been feeling a little extra motivated lately and I love it. Starting off with the fact that I am 4 days strong with no cigarette! Woot woot. This is coming from a girl who used to smoke a pack-a-day. How was I ever able to run? I know I was bearly making it. Now I enjoy running even more that I can breathe correctly. I can't believe what a difference 4 days would make not only on my breathing, but with my senses too. I can taste things better and I can smell things easier. Sometimes thats not a good thing. Haha. And whats weird is that what gets me the most is the nasty cigarette smell. I cant believe thats what I would smell like all day.

Anywho i saw Alyssa's recipe and I had to go to the store immediately to buy the stuff myself. The only thing I did differently was actually by the skinny girl margarita bottle. I cant wait to try it later on today. I will definitely post an update on what I think. But thanks Alyssa for the idea.

I did the unthinkable today. Well at least the unthinkable to me...Have you ever heard of the 100 workout? Neither did I until yesterday. Today I decided to give it a try. Here's what the workout looks like.
  • 100 Jumping Jacks
  • 90 Crunches
  • 80 Squats
  • 70 Leg Lifts (the hardest part to me)
  • 60 Jumping Jacks
  • 50 Crunches
  • 40 Squats
  • 30 Leg Lifts (Again, the hardest part)
  • 20 Jumping Jacks
  • 10 minutes of jogging
  • 5 minutes of foam rolling *added in myself
  • 1 minute plank *added in myself

I challenge you to try this workout and let me know what you think of it and how you did. I think next time I will use a timer and try to get faster every time...

Yummy Strawberry Banana Alcoholic Smoothie

In order to make this deliciousness you will need:
  • 1 whole banana
  • 8 strawberrys
  • 1 1/2 cups of Ice

This equals happiness :]

So I had some yummy tortilla soup for Azul Tequila.

Ice cream and whatnot

todays workout was foam rolling, stretching, zumba at golds gym, and sauna for 10 minutes.

So I wanted to take a picture of my yummy ice cream from baskin robbins. I had a small scoop of mississippi mud, but in this texas heat I had no chance of getting a good picture bc it melted before I even took the first bite. How lovely.
I was actually supposed to go to tcby for some semi~healthy ice cream...but that obviously didnt work out...

We decided to come wash and wax drews car so I thought I could get a little workout in...but he is hogging the foaming brush so I decided to blog...

Dinner tonight is al pastor and rice. The al pastor has been in the crock pot since 11 it is now 4. Should be delicious when we get home

Cheers to tha freakin weekend

I didnt want to much extra heres to his and hers

hungry hungry....hippo?

Todays workout included
  • stretching..(yes, it is a form of exercising)
  • 20 minutes on treadmill and 21%-30% incline
  • Leg Press --- reps of 130, 135, 140, 145, and 150 pounds :] *I still got it
  • Arms --- slanted bench press * reps of 40, 45, and 50 pounds
  • Planks ---60 second plank
  • Side Planks --- Both sides for 30 seconds each
  • More Stretching with this awesome machine they have at the gym
  • 10 minutes of Sauna
Overall it was an okay workout. I really wanted to focus on cardio but for some stupid reason decided that I should wear shorts...even though I never wear shorts to workout, and it was extremely uncomfortable. So, cardio is this weekend for sure. Also, my dumb Ipod stopped died. I guess its time to invest in another power cord.

For dinner I made some awesome chicken fajitas with orange bell peppers and red onions cooked in. On top we had cheese, cilantro and fresh onion on fresh tortillas with a side of rice. It was yummy but I was full after the 3rd bite. Sometimes I dont know when to stop and I've decided it's because I put 2 hours into cooking a meal to only eat 3 bites? Well that can reallycan. It could just mean more leftovers, and more awesomeness for the next day, or next couple of days.

Drew's skinny ass finished all two of his tacos and his enormous pile of rice and the first thing he said is "dessert?". What in the hell....I wish I could be like that. I don't really like to keep desserts in the house so I had to scrounge around to find him something. He ended up with 2 almond hershey kisses, fruit gummies, Nature's Valley Dark Chocolate and Granola, and a choclate milk bite bar. He ate everything. I honestly believe that as I'm writing this he is already in bed laying down. How can he do this and stay so skinny. I wish I had the metabolism of a 9 year old. But I understand that I dont that's why I have to workout...because I like to eat, but it doesnt just melt away like it does for Drew.

Well I'm gonna go check on him and make sure he doesn't leave me up by myself. Wish me luck

:]  Renae

Small goals > Big goals

So I haven't done this in a while but I think it's something I need to do. I need a list of goals.

Short Term Goals

Goal 1: Workout a minimum of 4 times a week
Goal 2: At least 8 glasses of water
Goal 3: Eat more fruits and veggies

Long Term Goals

Goal 1: Run my Muddy Outlaw Dash in under 29 minutes. -September 15th
Goal 2: Be able to comfortably fit in shorts
Goal 3: One Day: Run a half marathon

The hardest part about running is getting started. To meet my goals I will take my clothes with me to work. Workout at work when I have hour lunches and when I don't I will go straight to the gym afterwork. On Tuesdays I will attend Zumba classes at 4:45. On Saturdays I will go to crossfit, and Sundays Zumba again. The other days need to be some sort of cardio. I can do this. I have to remember it's all mental. Especially this quitting cigarettes thing. It's the biggest thing holding me back because I dont like to run when I smoke because I cant breath correctly. If I can just quit and be mentally strong, then I can do it.

I was looking online to find an article on dream interpretation. I wanted to know what it meant to dream about the deceased and what Kelsey was trying to tell me. But I found nothing that satisfied me. Just weird ghost stories and people being haunted...but I wasn't being haunted by Kelsey, it was something much more significant than that. Lets start off from the beginning...

Kelsey and I went to the same elementary, middle and high school. She was literally "my ride or die chick." We didn't really get close until high school, but thats when we became inseparable. We had many laughs, many stories, and many hilarious times. She was the person that really taught me that it's okay to be yourself. I decided one day to tell her to come live with me because we always had so much fun and she was practically over all of the time anyways. So she did. A couple of months later she met her boyfriend Sal. A couple of months after that I met my boyfriend Andrew. We all got along very well until randomly things started changing; our friendship started changing. The boys would always get in to it with each other, and it got so bad that it eventually caused Drew and I to move out before my lease was up. We found a new place and I didn't hear from Kelsey again.

One night I had a dream that Kelsey had died. That I got the call that my best friend had died. It was a tragic dream. The next day, I was home alone as I am now, I knew that I had to call Kelsey and checkup up on her and try to rekindle our friendship. I was nervouse but I dialed her number because it was no longer saved in my phone book. I called...she didn't answer. I knew that I would probably never talk to her again. But about 30 minutes later I got a call back from her. I was ecstatic but didnt know how the phone call would go. I began with a.... "Kelsey?" and she said..."is this Renae." I began by asking her how shes been telling her what I was up to. We said our sorry's and how things shouldn't have ended like that. We ended with a promise to meet up the next day.

I woke up in the morning excited to know that later on I'd be seeing Kelsey again. We were supposed to go swimming. I called and her phone was off. So I did the unthinkable and went to her mom's house where her stepdad answered. He said she wasn't home. DANGIT! How was I gonna get ahold of her. Later on that night I got a text from her saying that her mom didn't want me randomly stopping by her house. I said okay I understand. I called her and thats when things turned for the worse. She said she didn't think she could be friends with me ever again and that how our friendship ended was so horrible that she didnt want to talk to me again. I told her "You talked to Sal didn't you" "and he told you not to talk to me"...she didn't answer. And that was the last time I heard from her again.

About a month later after I had my dream that she had died, my boyfriend got a call from a mutual friend of Drew, Kelsey, and I that Kelsey had died. I thought I was still in a dream and took a while to hit me. It actually didn't hit me until I looked at my phone and had 8 missed calls and 6 text messages from friends claiming that Kelsey had died. I had to see for myself. I asked my friend Angela if I could login to her facebook to see Kelseys page. And thats when it all hit me. I broke into tears. This couldn't have been happening. WHYYYY????

I found out Kelsey died a tragic death. It was January 1st, 2012. Kelsey was with her family for most of the night but Kelsey, Sal and her brother decided to leave for a party. At the end of the night, apparently Kelsey and Sal were left rideless and kickded out of the party. They began walking and wanted to get to southpark meadows in Austin Texas. The only way to get there was to cross I-35. And they did, except Kelsey didn't make it across. She was struck by a vehicle in the northbound center lane. Sal made it across. The drive kept going and didn't stop.

I am so upset because Sal has given 3 different stories about what happened. The driver of the car was eventually caught. He claims that he only saw Sal in the far right lane and swerved to miss him. Thats when he struck Kelsey in the middle lane who was already bent over on her knees. WHAT HAPPENED?? Why would Kelsey already be on the ground and Sal was able to make it? I have so many questions I want answered. I think thats why I had the dream.

I dreamt that I was in a cafeteria with a bunch of friends when I saw someone in the corner of my eye that looked like Kelsey. I couldn't help it but had to keep looking. It was her...but I couldn't believe it. My friends turned to see what I was looking at, and they yelled "It's Kelsey." They could see her too. She was sitting down eating too. She was sitting a cross from a boy around her age. They were eating their food but not saying anything. My friends kept saying go say something to her, its Kelsey, why won't you go to her. I broke down crying, hard. I hear, "Renae?" I look and its Kelsey standing by us all. I said "but I thought you were...." she nodded " I am" She asked if I wanted to go to her place, confused I looked at my boyfriend Andrew and he nodded saying this is Real. We went to her place. It looked like a dorm room almost. It was all white except for what Kelsey was wearing...her black muscle shirt and a pair of shorts. Its what she wore all the time. She began scrubbing her floor, confused, I started scrubbing with her. I asked her if she was okay she said she felt great. I told her I was sorry and she just wanted to forget about the past. She told me she was very happy and in a great place. I noticed she a large lump on her head and a scar going from her throat down her shirt towards her belly button. It appeared to be fresh. I touched it and asked does it hurt...she smiled and said nothing hurts. Not knowning what it was in my dream then, I told a couple of people about it and they say it was probably her autopsy cut. I asked if she minded telling me what happened. She didnt tell me how it happened but explained how she got hit. She said she got hit head first and flew 15 feet away. But she reminded me that she does not hurt again...Thats when I woke up.

I woke up with dried tears running down my face. But I also had a sense of relief. I felt like we resolved our differences...but I was still left with wondering what really happened and why Kelsey was already on the ground. Now, I only wait for her to come back to my dreams. I know she wanted to tell me something. Kelsey, when you're ready, I'll be hear listening.

Unfortunately I did not do the programs correctly because I forgot to print out the exercises and the right way to do it. So I just did the elliptical for 30 minutes on level 6 resistance while watching jersey shore. Then I proceeded to do the same thing I did yesterday to see what more I could pull out...and I did better on all of the programs than I did yesterday. So here are the results for day 1.

8 Dips                -Up 2
15 Pushups        -Up 3
40 Squats           -Up 5
30 Situps            -Up 5

Go Me! Go Me! Go Me! Go Me!

So I really can't wait to do the unthinkable in 6 weeks. If I follow this program I should be able to do 100 pushups consecutively, 150 dips consecutively, 200 situps consecutively, and 200 squats consecutively. You know how awesome I'll look if I keep it up. Ahhhh just thinking about it makes me super excited

squats, pushups, dips, situps

Yesterday I did very good working out. I can use a little help on eating but will work on that. I ran 2 miles yesterday at lunch followed by squats, dips, pushups, and situps. I'm starting those programs and so far my numbers are as followed:

Squats: 35
Pushups: 12
Dips: 6
Situps: 25

I will keep updating as I go so that you can know if this program works or not. Your supposed to skip days but I'm not today because that was only the initial test yesterday. I am gonna go ahead and start week 1 today.

I need to get more pictures up for you guys. That will be my goal...It always makes blogs a lot more interesting when there's a picture, don't ya think?

Will post update later.

Austin Outlaw Dash

I'm excited to announce that I have officially signed up for my next race. I need something to get my butt back into gear. I've always wanted to do a mudrun, and now that I've got the money to do so, I've signed myself up. So what does that mean for me? TRAINING! Not only running, but lifting weights, going to zumba and attending crossfit classes. I cannot wait to start. I cann't be lazy anymore. Yesterday I could have very well went and got ready for Zumba, but what did I do? Walked to the vending machine, got a soda, and made myself a mixed drink, followed by a call to PapaJohns for a large pizza.

So time to "update" my lifestyle and get my body in sync with what my mind wants. Today I will start the 100 pushups program back up as well as the 200 squats program. And while I'm at it...why not try the 200 situps program.

I want to feel strong mentally and physically. I want to refuse that cookie when offered.

Quick Update

Getting things together...or at least I hope so. Yesterday, I worked out during lunch. My lunch is only 30 minutes but I was able to do the elliptical for 20 minutes and then did 60 crunches on the big bouncy medicine? balls... i think thats what you call them. After work I decided to wash clothes. I put in the clothes and went for a run around manchaca. I just about died because it has been forever since I've attempted to run outside in this hot Texas heat. But I did, and I'm happy that I did. I think it was about 20 minutes of running. At least it's better than nothing. On the downside, I went straight home and ordered papa johns pizza. I had two slices and poured that garlic sauce all over it. Way to go Renae. ;] haha. I don't think of it as a loss, it's something I'm probably never gonna take out of my diet, so I have to learn to work off what I eat, not just not eat it and deprive myself. Because real quickly those 2 slices could turn into the entire box. ha...I don't think I could ever do that, even when I was at my biggest.

Today's plans--

Go grocery shopping (which I'm dreading today) normally I love grocery shopping. I don't know why. I guess I pretend like it's clothes and get to get whatever I want because Andrew doesn't go shopping with me.

Afterwards I'll probably make some food. I was thinking a chicken pot pie, but it requires too much time on my end...not really, i'm just being lazy. Viola pasta bag it is.

If I get home and Drew is already home then we may just go tubing and I can skip the above. I'm really hoping that's what happens.

If we don't go tubing or somewhere else, then after cooking I'll paint my toe-sies because it's very much needed. Maybe I can get in some type of workout. I'll look on netflix for a yoga exercise or something. I need it with my unflexible ass.

Alcohol may or may not be included in my plans today...I'm gonna take a wild guess and say no.

Studying is in the books today...hah no pun intended.

I need to clean, but i'll save that for tomorrow or Sunday.

Tomorrow is my black family's reunion. OOHHHH looorddd. that'll be a hoot.

Oh and soon i'll be signing up for the Muddy Outlaw Dash. I'm pretty excited about it. I just have to beat this Texas Heat and continue to run.

Friday, July 6, 2012

I read these peoples blogs, almost on the daily now. I'm addicted, but obviously they are too. I wished I had the time and dedication to post something everyday and make my profile look professional. But I don't. My life is really hectic right about now. Plus, I tried to buy a memory card converter for my camera so that I can upload pictures easier, but for some reason it is not working on my computer.

Anyways, I guess I'll start with my 4th of July events. I thought it was gonna be a lazy day around the house, but it turned out to be a very great day/night. We started off tubing in San Marcos. It was me, Andrew, his best friend Andres, My best friend Alexis, and our friend from elementary school Monica. And you already know that's a day in itself. We drank our beers and proceeded to float down the river. By the time it was time to stand up to get out of the river, most of us had a struggle attempting to get out. But we made it, where it was our mission to find FREE beer. That's when I saw my good friend Eddy, whom I haven't seen in over two years. He reminded me of a bunch of good times we all used to have. Especially the good times we had with our good friend Kelsey who died on the 1st of this year. It was so good to reminisce about the past. We played washers with them. Both Drew and I have a very competitive edge and were always trying to beat each other at everything. And of course he beat me, 10 to 4. WOWW Renae, really. :] It was so hot outside and you know you get hungry after swimming so we all came to my house where we decided to make chicken alfredo for the whole crew. Besides the kitchen flooding and the house almost catching on fire, it came out great.

We ended up going to buy fireworks. I didn't go to the stand with the boys, but when they came back, they had $100 worth of fireworks! Are you serious, thats almost the price of a new coach bag, but it was worth it. We ended up going to another friends of ours, and of course it was his parents house. Drew decides to light the 100 firecrackers and all hell broke loose. Ms. Patt came outside yelling "who in the hell told you you can pop fireworks outside my house, you better go on somewhere else with that $*#!." haha I love her though. She keeps it real. We ended up leaving the back of her house, and finished them off in the front, nearly escaping the cops. We all had to run as fast as we could to the back of the house. Made it just in time

So today is National Fried Chicken Day. And my coworkers and myself have decided we will honor this great day with some Popeyes chicken for lunch. I cannot wait. I am starvinggggg.

Day One: No smoking

Okay, so right about now is when I'd be smoking my first cigarette. You know, right after breakfast. The BEST time to have one. :] I am in fact craving one, but waiiitt....what am I reaching for in this little purse of mine....GUMMM!! Hopefully it will help. And I made sure to get sugarfree gum. My other bad habit is RedBull. But we'll just get rid of one bad habit at a time. :]

I am on day 5 of not biting my nails. They are growing slowly, but surely. Don't mind my ugly hands

It is now 5:55pm...a couple hours ago I posted the above. I had a headache all day from just flat out not smoking. Now, what am I doing you ask? Sitting next to Andrew as he puffs that cigarette. It smells pretty gross, but for some reason I'm still very tempted to grab it from him and puff it all down. But I can't. What I did do though, is grab a miller light out of the refrigerator. And now I don't even want a second one.

My name is Renae Farr. I'm a twenty-something lady in love with life. My boyfriend Andrew and I, have been together for over 4 years now. We love our two dogs D.O.G and Kujo. We live in South Austin. Our favorite things to do include:

  • Drinking ;] C'mon were still very young
  • Eating - Sucks for me because Drew gains absolutely no weight
  • Tubing San Marcos, Comal, or Guadalupe River
  • Disc Golf
  • Hanging out with our friends
  • Downtown Austin
  • I like to workout, he just likes to work
  • I love shopping, he loves playing Modern Warfare
  • I work for a broker/dealer firm for wealth management, Drew is a landscaper and loves it

So why am I here?

I am here to reach and maintain my weight loss goals. When I was at my biggest I was nearly 270 pounds and NOT happy. Went to college at Texas State University where me and my best friend were at. I began getting depressed there and wanted a change. I've always been a beautiful person on the inside and wanted to show that I can be beautiful on the outside as well.

I started going to the gym with no high hopes. When I saw the pounds just shedding because I was actually finally doing some sort of physical activity, I immediately got caught up in the workout schedule. I began to enjoy it and would not let anything stop me from going to they gym. I was constantly at the gym and always watching how many calories i'd eat. I ended up loosing about 90 pounds. Then I got uninterested in working out. It was always the same things over and over. I ended up loosing about 10 pounds more before I met Drew, getting my self down to 175. I remember being so happy and confident. Friends from high school weren't recognizing me anymore, it was so awesome.

I got with Andrew and that's when I also started smoking cigarettes. ughhh. I know. Within a year of being together i gained about 8 pounds back and was at 183. Finally one day, I decided to start doing something about it. I started siging up for races. I remember my first race, it was a 5k. My mom did it with me. I was in no shape to run. Running was very difficult to me actually. I finished that 5k in about 45 minutes. So I kept signing up for them. My second 5k was 38 minutes. I kept getting faster and it was encouraging to know that the girl who was always last, and in tears coming in from the track in high school was actually running now for fun. My third 5k got down to about 32 minutes.

Then my awesome job paid for anybody and everybody to run the Capitol 10k. I have never done anything like it before and had never actually ran a race before without stopping, but come on, I had to do it. It was free. So I quit smoking cigarettes and started training just about a month before the actual race. I couldn't believe I was actually gonna do it. Race day came, I remember running over the congress bridge and around the capitol. I remember seeing how strong everyones legs were, and how many people there were. 24,000 people! I was amazed. There was supposed to be mile markers along the way. I didn't see one until mile 4. My eyes grew big. I've never in my life ran 4 miles without stopping. So I continued. I told myself don't stop now, your more than half of the way there. I remember getting to mile 5.5 and I could see the ending of the race right around the corner, my mom would be waiting there for me to cross. I picked up my speed and began running as fast as I could. As I neared the finishline, I heard my mom before I saw her. :] Goooo RENAEEEEE! I crossed the finishline almost about to faint due to the heat and clasterphobia at the finishline. I found out my time. I finished in an 1:08 minutes. I finished in the top 25%. Not bad for a newbie runner. I couldn't believe I did it. And the time, I'm super excited about.

Currently, I've gained some of my weight back, but I am here to really change my lifestyle. I'm using the intuitive eating method and I think it's the best. I will go home and stay active when I get there, not just plop down on the couch. I will slow down on the alcohol, especially beer.

After the race. Extrememly excited                        Almost to the finishline!!

I want to live a healthly lifestyle. I need to live a healthy lifestyle. I will live a healthy lifestyle.

Until next blog,
